A must for nature lovers, the small fishing town of Dalyan is located within the wildlife sanctuary of the Dalyan Delta, home to no less than 152 varieties of birds, three types of turtles, including the protected loggerhead. Dalyan has a selection of restaurants, shops and located close by for excursions to Caunos, Sulphur Springs, Mud Baths and Koycegiz Lake. Patara is a place to spend a relaxing holiday the 18 kilometres of beach are very inviting, especially after a hard day climbing around the ruins. Patara is famous on two accounts: as the birth-place of St. Nicholas who has entered into christian traditions as Father Christmas and for having a fabulous beach. The ruins of course, numerous and interesting but Patara is natural place for beach lovers. There are some restaurants back from the site and a couple of cafes down on the beach. A holiday in Patara would suit couples or families in search of a beach holiday with historic charm and unspoilt Turkish character.
Gocek is a small seaside farming village turned into the top yachting center of Turkey which lies on a valley surrounded by hills on three sides. Due to abundant freshwater, the warm climate and very fertile soil, farming is still practiced even though land prices have skyrocketed in the last decade since Gocek became an internationally famous port city. Just two blocks from the promenade by the sea, houses still have their little gardens where residents grow all kind vegetables from tomatoes to eggplants, and the sidewalks are covered by orange, tangerine, grapefuit and lemon trees, so typical of the southern Mediterranean, marking the city’s solid connection with the land in addition to what it is famous for, the beautiful coves and bays around. The green panorama of the city is further accented by the everpresent pine trees along the hills. Set on a wide bay, strewn with many islands. Fethiye is 135 kms southwest of Marmaris and has an outstanding and busy marina. Fethiye is known for its rock tombs carved into the faces of the cliffs by the Lycians. These are elaborately carved and an especially remarkable. Fethiye is also close to ovacık and Hisarönü and one of the most beautiful beach in the world, Ölüdeniz Beach.
The Beach and the Sovalye Island are real the destinations for those who like to enjoy the most beautiful sea. Belcegiz Bay is also good for such a visit and provides natural mountain scenery. Kayaköy is another site worth visiting in Fethiye.
